The Black capped vireo is the smallest vireo that occurs regularly in the United States. These birds are listed as endangered because the low scrub lands they inhabit are being overgrazed or cleared. Brown headed Cowbirds also are known to lay their eggs in Vireo nests, causing the Vireo birds to abandon their nest. You can find these birds in Oklahoma and Texas and also in Northern Mexico.

My Black Capped Vireo has been needle felted with wool roving and great care has been taken to get all of his markings, his size and colors accurate! Needle felting is a time consuming process in which a single barbed needle is repeatedly poked into wool until the desired shape is formed. He stands on sturdy wire feet and is life size at 4.25 inches in length and has two glass black eyes.

Mr. Vireo is custom made once you place your order. I usually ship within 2-3 weeks of payment, but it depends how many orders I have.
